APC - The Association for Progressive Communications

The Association for Progressive Communications (APC)

“A world in which all people have easy, equal and affordable access to the creative potential of ICTs to improve their lives and create more democratic and egalitarian societies.”

I chose to write a blogg about The Association for Progressive Communications (APC) because it sounded interesting and it is a really important Organisasjon since it helps other NGOs.

The APC are a global network that was founded in 1990, and is a civil society organisations who’s working to empower and support organisations, social movements and individuals in and through the use of information and communication technologies to build strategic communities and initiatives for the purpose of making meaningful contributions to equitable human development, social justice, participatory political processes and environmental sustainability.

Pioneering the use of ICTs (information and communication technologies) for civil society, especially in developing countries, APC were often the first providers of Internet in their member countries.

According to GreenNet, one of the founder members of the APC, The APC currently has 25 member networks serving over 50,000 activists, (NGOs) in over 133 countries.

How they get money and how they use them, did I not find out.

The APC is working with al languages and their website can be read in English, French, Spanich and Portugueset.

The APC is committed to supporting international links with Southern member and partner networks.

Co-founders of APC are:

Institute for Global Communications (IGC), San Francisco;

GreenNet, London;

IBASE, Rio de Janeiro;

Nicarao, Managua;

Pegasus Networks, Byron Bay; and

Web Networks, Toronto.

NordNet, Sweden

In 2005, the Association for Progressive Communications (APC) was involved in organizing civil society participation in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), a process of which the organization had a mixed evaluation.

This was very good Petter. You have written a good readable text and it's good that you have some links in the bottom of your pages if someone would like to look at them!
Very nice!

veldig bra, men som grethe sier så har du jo ikke svart på alle spørsmålene, men ellers veldig bra, med tanke på at du har valgt å organisere bloggen på den måten du har. det gjør det også lettere å lese på en måte men også på en ann måte ikke..
